AK price check
 

I've been focusing on other aspects of firearms for the last few years and $250 for a 1000 rounds of Wolf tells me I'm not very current, I last paid $97 out the door.

A friend of mine wants an AK real bad and has offered a trade. I'm pretty sure I've got a handle on the value of his offer but I don't want to rip him off, all I want to do is give him a fair trade.

Unfired Maadi ARM, a swipe inside the receiver in the right place will still bring up cosmo but due to the following mods I did do a major clean today. Installed US fire control group from Red Star, US gas piston, FSE pistol grip and US `74 style break, (at his request, yes the retention pin and spring work). 1000M adjustable rear sight. The ACC monkeys must have been blind that day because a bayo will mount just fine if he wants to swap the break for a nut so I've included one of those grey leather cleaning packs in addition to the one in the laminated buttstock, an AKM style bayonet, and a brass oiler, (I won't own one of the plastic ones), packed in a Chi-Com drum pouch. Finally, 10 E. German 30 rounders of varying finish loaded with Yugo mil-surp.

I'm kind of partial to the Maadi line and this is my last virgin one so I'm kinda biased. Whatcha think?

Based on current prices I would value the 10 mags at $15 each. The yugo surplus is worth about 20cents/round. So that is 200-210 for the mags and ammo. Personally, I don't think a bayonet adds much value as they are easy to get and inexpensive. Ditto the cleaning kit and oiler. The US parts are worth something, but I really don't know how much. I think the Maadi is worth about $550. You have added some stuff such as the US parts and '74 style brake. I would put the total at $900. Maybe a little more or less.

Whoo-Hoo! I'm golden then. I was thinking around $800 so anything in that range is great. I don't want to jinx it by going into details but in the end I hope to end up with new toys *and* PM.

To me, $900 seems a little steep for a Maadi thumbholer converted to PG configuration, but you are throwing in lots of mags/ammo and there probably won't ever be any more Maadis imported. Prices have been dropping on AKs and 7.62x39 ammo around the country lately, at least out here in the west, but whatever you feel you can get for it is probably fair.

Agreed but I'm not going to get FRN's out of this first stage of the trade so I'm just going for approximately $800 to trade for another approximately $800. And it *is* an ARM with a clear 93 in the pharaoh... ;)

I agree too. I made my estimate on the high side. I didn't completely read the OP and was unsure if there was going to be price bargaining.

Stage one complete. I am now the proud, temporary, owner of an unfired Colt Match Target HBAR II. No box but it has the manual. The sling and cleaning rod and brushes are still in the original plastic. I threw in a Romanian drum and got an Aimpoint CompM-XD still in the original box and the rail to raise it up properly. (I couldn't stand it and am convinced this morning was the first time it's ever been mounted.)

Stage two, throw in a 30-rounder, shop it around locally and ask $1400obo. If anyone here wants to PM me an offer please include shipping and I would prefer Au or Ag to FRN's thus eliminating a Stage three
